14 Gauge Barbute Helmet

The open-faced Barbute type helmet was developed in Italy in the 15th century. Their use was widespread from Hungary to Iberia, and into the British Isles. A popular alternative to the more restrictive Sallet, it allows for high visibility and breathability. This particular Barbute is based on the helmet of the "Avant" armour, housed at the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow. It is constructed of 14G steel and has an adjustable liner and chinstrap.
