Our 18th century hanger from Kingston Arms is representative of the short style of sabre, known as a hanger, popular in the Americas and amongst the British in particular throughout the 18th century. From the golden age of piracy to beyond the American Revolution, the hanger, in some form, could be seen in the hands of anyone from a sailor fending off raiding buccaneers, to a non-commissioned officer giving his line of militia the order to take aim and fire. Exceptionally well-balanced with a 3-inch balance point, this beautiful and light sword features a wire-wrapped leather grip, a wicked sharp blade, and four slot guard, particularly popularized by the James Potter swordmaker in New York of the late 18th century. An excellent choice for reenactors and collectors both.
